Want to get your website to number in google?

So does every business. Getting to number 1 can be very hard and time consuming. There is alot of mis-information regarding search engine optimisation practices. There are however some proven techneques to help get your site to number 1 in google:

• Get quality websites to link to your's. You are after quality not quantity. Having a 1000 poor websites will do little to your ranking so concentrate on getting some high quality links. What is a high quality website? One that ranks highly in google and is also related to your website.
• Use keywords in links (see point above). For example you will see on website's designed by debosoft we use the link Website Design Wollongong - This uses the keywords instead of plain website address such as www.debosoft.com.au
• Have content that delivers value to readers. This will ensure people link to your site and keep coming back.
• Use meaningul titles and use "Heading 1" tag. Do not try to cram all your keywords into the title as people will have a hard time understanding. Only use the heading 1 tag for headings.
• Make sure your website does not hinder search engines. Some webpages cannot be reached by google. Some examples are flash websites (dont use flash to display text) and Frames (this is old school website design - google can't navigate the site).
• Use website URL's that have keywords in them. For example the following page is about search engine optimisation - http://debosoft.com.au/node/31/ - The following format is much better as it contains keywords in the address - http://debosoft.com.au/content/search-engine-optimisation
